Hey all, I need to screen an episode of Star Trek (TOS) for a class, we're reading some good ol' Henry Jenkins about slash fic. Any recs on the most slash-worthy K/S episodes?
elise_509: (CAP & TONY)
I wrote 22K of my [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang fic (basically from scratch, I had only one scene ready) in the past three days in order to meet the 80% complete deadline tonight. Just turned it in! Phew.

I'm going to try to finish it up completely this week before school really kicks in but I have a feeling I'm really going to wish I hadn't done this.

Or maybe not.

My story feels pretty weak right now, but I can probably shore it up after I get it *completed*. First things first.

Title: Effort Expended
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Rating: R
Prompt: Due to the pictures of Steve's newest outfit circulating through tumblr on the set of CA2 and Tony's hoodie outfit in IM3, I would like to see a Hipster AU where they're young, in love, wearing hipster glasses and taking selfies while taking pictures of their Starbucks coffee while sharing an earbud of a virtually unknown indie band.

Be as stereotypically hipster and fluffy as you can. Clothes, interests, tastes... I want the whole nine yards.

A/N: Hey, have a music mix, because really. Hipsters. By the time you listen to this, these bands will no longer be cool.

Tony turns back to his breakfast, already over his goat cheese and spinach omelette and eyeing Steve’s gluten free vegan French toast. He contemplates how long it will take Steve to notice his wandering eyes and offer him some.

2 Fandom Related Questions:

1) Does anyone know of fandoms wherein fans identify themselves using gendered language? (besides Bronies and Pegasisters?)

2) Does anyone know of any MSCL fan communities/fans that were/are centered particularly around queerness? I have an academic friend trying to write about Rickie Vasquez and since I was a 12 year old girl when I was in the original MSCL fandom, I wasn't really aware of that part of it at the time.

That was a marvelous series finale. Just wonderful! It encapsulated so much of what was amazing about the show over the past five years.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2013 brings everybody wonderful, amazing things.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] gottalovev, [livejournal.com profile] bbmarcello, [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch, [livejournal.com profile] haldoor, [livejournal.com profile] keyweegirlie & [livejournal.com profile] romelwen for the lovely holiday cards! Lou, your artwork is so beautiful, I swear that every painting you do just gets more and more amazing. Ju, ILU tons and tons! Thank you for the super sweet gift, I adore it.

I caught up on the entirety of New Girl on Friday and I think I may just despise it. And is there supposed to be chemistry between Nick and Jess? There's not even a hint of a spark between them. While I was watching NG, I kept seeing previews for The Following on Hulu, the pilot of which I already saw earlier this year. Word to the wise, it was one of the worst pilots I've ever seen. People were actually laughing at it, it was so, so bad.

I also watched Skyfall and was utterly shocked by how wretchedly sexist it was. I mean, I'm no crazy fool, I hardly expect James Bond to be some ode to equality, but when folks were happily saying that this Bond felt more like a classic Bond pic, I thought they meant in terms of style and the Aston Martin and Bond just bedding some more beautiful women, which I can deal with because what is Bond but straight male fantasy. Didn't quite expect the barrage of misogyny that rained down.

Last two episodes of Haven...eh. Mixed feelings.

I'm going to NYC on Saturday to visit my friends (Going to see Newsies on Broadway, yay!) and then on Tuesday heading home to Buffalo to visit the fam. My aunt wants to go see Les Miserables with me so I've been waiting on seeing it. It's so hard for me to wait on seeing movies, it's silly but true.

I'm watching The Wire right now, which is amazing and interesting thus far, even if not the kind of show where I have a driving need to see the next episode. Idris Elba is so gorgeous. He's sexier with his real accent but still. Damn.

Thus far, as you can probably tell, I have accomplished pretty much nothing during my break from school. I've basically been sitting around and watching TV. I'm pointless!

The Magnum P.I. helicopter in the background of a scene in tonight's H50 episode made my day.
